Super 8 Wedding Film - The Analogue Approach
One of the main things my wonderful clients tell me when they book me to capture their wedding on Super 8, is that they didn't want the usual, digital 4k wedding video but they weren't sure what they could have instead....and then they found me and my analogue films.
I don't capture video on digital at all because, unlike Super 8, my heart isn't in it. I first started shooting Super 8 on a trip to Iceland around 10 years ago and since then, I made short films to document my trips to Portugal, Los Angeles and still capture my family moments on it. My love for the medium and ability to tell people's stories on this wonderful medium naturally integrated with my photography business, where I largely favour analogue capture, using 35mm, medium and large format cameras alongside digital and has since led me to film some glorious weddings for wonderful people, exclusively on Super 8.

What film stock do I use?
I can talk about this for hours but the simple version is that Kodak still makes motion picture film for the big Hollywood studios and some directors such as Wes Anderson, Quentin Tarantino and Cristopher Nolan among others still favour analogue capture and the film I use to capture your wedding is the same film stock......only smaller. It's 8mm instead of 35mm or 70mm (what you know as IMax). It comes in various 'speeds' or light sensitivities which I select based on your location and how much light is available.
